What the maker specifies

Pentel describes the SXS15 Handy-line S as a chisel-tip highlighter capable of broad and fine marks. The selected US page does not give this reference a verified numeric stroke-width range. We therefore retain the chisel construction and variable-width description instead of assigning precise millimeter widths from a generic picture.

Keep orientation visible

A chisel has an edge and a broader face; the way it is oriented is part of the marking setup. Comparing one narrow mark with another broad mark without recording orientation would not be a useful width comparison. Our illustration shows a generic arrangement, not a calibrated sample of the selected SXS15 or a test sheet.

Match the task without a promise

If you need to underline narrow text or cover a wide text line, check the actual selected tip description and the page layout. A highlighter catalog can identify its form, but it does not establish a perfect fit for every font size or line spacing. Ask for a suitable sample when that distinction matters before ordering several packs.

Do not invent a smear test

The broad/fine description also says nothing about whether fresh gel ink will smear under the highlighter. That is a separate pairing and timing question. This reference has not highlighted over a named pen or measured drying time. Do not read a crisp generic yellow stripe in an editorial image as an independent performance result.

Keep mark width out of the price denominator

The observed $1.79 is per complete selected highlighter, not per millimeter of a broad stripe. No tested highlighted area or line length was established. Dividing price by a guessed broad-tip width would create a performance comparison without the needed evidence and would ignore orientation, ink consumption and the actual task.

Use the maker source for the form

The official SXS15 and SLR3 pages establish chisel construction and the named relationship. They are the sources for those catalog statements. They do not make our generic yellow stroke a selected-product sample. When a precise width is necessary, ask for relevant specifications or documented samples rather than measuring artwork.

Before you decide

  • Keep the exact selected SKU, color and selling unit
  • Check current maker scope and the actual seller offer
  • Separate your assumptions from measured performance
