Name the complete point

The observed BL77 pen is sold as medium 0.7 mm. Fine, medium and bold are useful catalog labels, but a comparison should retain the numerical specification, tip form and ink family as well. Do not reduce two different products to the word medium and assume identical physical tips, writing marks or refill geometry.

Avoid a cross-brand shortcut

The official LR7 page describes a 0.7 mm refill for named refillable EnerGel models. That does not authorize every refill marked medium or 0.7 mm in the same body. A matching diameter label answers a point-size question, while the manufacturer fit statement answers a mechanical model question. Keep separate columns for those two fields.

A shopping comparison record

For a shortlist, write model, ink color, declared point size, tip form, package count and refill family. Put any actual line-width measurement in another field only if you have a documented test. Our generic images have no calibrated scale and do not supply that evidence. A photograph cannot replace the missing numerical or compatibility statement.

When to stop the comparison

If a seller omits the exact model or point size, ask before buying a bulk pack for a specific task. If the task requires a precise line specification, this reference has not certified a pen for that requirement. You can still compare confirmed package prices once the exact selected products are identified, without claiming their untested marks are equivalent.

Make unlike labels visible

If one listing says medium 0.7 mm and another only says fine, the missing numerical field should remain missing. Ask the second seller for the exact maker identifier rather than assigning a size from the word fine. A low pack price with an unidentified point is an unresolved offer, not a confirmed equivalent.

Separate fit from preference

After a preferred point size is chosen, check which exact maker refill is supported for the actual body. The preference alone does not authorize a cartridge. Our finder can document the observed BL77/LR7 relationship; another family requires its own evidence even if its description sounds equally suitable for ordinary notes.

Before you decide

  • Keep the exact selected SKU, color and selling unit
  • Check current maker scope and the actual seller offer
  • Separate your assumptions from measured performance
