Read the mechanism statement
Pentel describes SXS15 as retractable and refillable, with a seal mechanism intended to protect the tip. The observed page also uses drying-resistance marketing. We can report the design statement without claiming that the marker remains usable forever, for a fixed number of uncapped hours or after a particular storage trial.
Avoid an invented duration
A retractable design and a capped design are different handling arrangements, but neither provides a lifespan denominator for our price comparison. We did not leave these products exposed, measure retained ink or count pages until failure. Do not calculate cost per month or cost per highlighted page from a maker mechanism description alone.
Store by the actual instructions
Check the exact selected product instructions and keep the mechanism or cap in its intended closed position when stored. This reference does not supply a universal temperature, time limit or revival treatment for all gel pens and highlighters. If a tip or mechanism is damaged, ask the maker rather than assuming a fresh refill fixes every issue.
A purchase check rather than a test
For a new order, confirm whether the offer is a complete SXS15 highlighter or an SLR3 refill. A refill price does not include a new functioning body. A generic image of several parts does not promise that each part is in the package. The manufacturer-listed fit and the exact selling unit should remain beside the observed price.
Count the component being replaced
If an existing SXS15 body functions but needs ink, the observed SLR3 refill price is a separate option from a new complete highlighter. If the mechanism is broken, that price does not include a replacement body. Ask the maker about the actual issue before treating a refill purchase as a guaranteed repair.
Keep a condition record
A stock count can record complete usable highlighters separately from items whose condition is unknown. Do not include an uncertain old item as guaranteed ready stock merely because it retracts. The allocation worksheet relies on your known usable count and does not diagnose drying or certify the remaining contents of a stored marker.
