Start with the allocation

The allocation tool models a chosen number of people and a chosen number of items per person for three color rows. It does not recommend how many pens a person should use per week or predict when ink runs out. Enter your actual kit requirement rather than treating the defaults or a blank field as a consumption standard.

Subtract only usable known stock

For a hypothetical ten-person kit with two black pens each, the target is twenty black pens. If three confirmed usable black pens are already available, the gap is seventeen. With twelve black pens per selected pack, two whole packs provide twenty-four new pens, leaving seven above the target after the three on hand are counted.

Round each pack honestly

Count actual usable complete items for a complete-pen allocation. An unknown leftover refill is not another ready pen body. Separate colors and package forms instead of pooling everything in the drawer. The tool accepts nonnegative whole on-hand quantities and refuses a zero or fractional pack divisor; it does not turn an uncertain drawer estimate into verified stock.

Keep future use outside the promise

Before buying, confirm the actual selected pack count and current delivery conditions. A calculated surplus is a quantity difference, not guaranteed future shelf life or measured writing capacity. The worksheet does not predict drying, loss or breakage and does not combine mixed-color packs into an optimized purchase order. Keep those limitations with the saved planning record.

A zero row is intentional

If a kit needs no blue pens, enter zero for blue items per person rather than leaving a demand assumption hidden. A valid zero target produces zero new packs while still showing any existing surplus. Blank required inputs are treated as missing information, so the worksheet does not silently invent a team size or personal allocation.

Save the chosen assumptions

A useful planning record includes people count, items per person, on-hand count and exact selected pack count for each color. Those are allocation assumptions and observations, not product performance data. If any input changes, recalculate the relevant plan. The site runs locally in the browser and does not save your counts automatically.

Before you decide

  • Keep the exact selected SKU, color and selling unit
  • Check current maker scope and the actual seller offer
  • Separate your assumptions from measured performance
